Bit and Piece Riding

Yes, I've been riding, but not the sort that one blogs about. I've been zipping here and there on short trips when I can, avoiding the freezing temperatures and the dangers of black ice at night and more or less using the bike to get around than to joy ride. I did make it out over the past weekend for a while just for the sake of riding, but not on as long a trip as I'd have made if the weather had been nicer, and not on the sort of ride that I'd take off the gloves for in order to snap pictures of where I'd been 'cause I'd not been anywhere particularly nice in terms of scenery.

I do wonder about riding on snow. I know there are some guys who do it, but isn't it horribly slippery? I don't even like driving on snow with the car so I don't see myself giving the white stuff a whirl with the scooter just to say that I did it.

My rides are getting like that too - short and to the point. But I guess it's just good to get out there. The weather around here is looking pretty good for Thanksgiving weekend (less rain, but still cold), so I hope for more time on the saddle then.

I know what you mean by "un-exciting" riding. The rides where you just have to get from point A to point B, get something done, or pick something up, then head back the way you came. No glamour, no relaxing along some scenic route. But, even so, those rides have their merits and feelings of "riding" rather than "driving". I can't say I blame you for not wanting to get out on snowy roads. Living in Atlanta, we don't have to deal with that concept too often. Maybe in mid January we'll have some ice and possibly a thin snow once every couple of years, but mostly its just the damp cold air that keeps me in the cage rather than on my bike. Even so, when I DO venture out in it on 2 wheels, it is just as enjoyable as ever. Just short lived.
Be careful!

I can attest to the slippery nature of snow. Early in my scooter adventures I put my Vespa down on the road as I approached a stop sign. It goes fast if you aren't paying attention.

I only ride in snow if I get caught in it and my plans right now are to not get caught in it. My adventurous nature seems to have abandoned me...
